Plain answers to the questions people actually ask about how Devcrate handles personal information on this website and in our Windows apps. Written to satisfy the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) and similar state laws. Last updated August 29, 2026.
Who are you?
Devcrate Software LLC (“Devcrate”, “we”, “us”), a Washington limited liability company, 1201 3rd Ave, Suite 2200, Seattle, WA 98101, United States · team@devcrateapps.com · (206) 419-7734.
What do you collect?
| Category (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.140) | What it is | Where it comes from | Why we need it |
|---|
| Identifiers | Name, e-mail address, phone number if you give it, IP address (last octet removed in our logs) | You, when you write to us; your browser | Answer your message, deliver license keys, prevent abuse |
| Commercial information | Which app or plan you ask about, license key you paste for support, order number | You | Support, refunds, license recovery |
| Internet activity | Pages of this site you requested, browser type, referring page | Your browser (server logs) | Security, capacity planning, debugging |
| Inferences | None. We do not build profiles. | — | — |
We do not collect sensitive personal information, precise geolocation, biometric data or data about protected characteristics.
Do you sell my data or use it for ads?
No. No sale, no “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, no ad networks, no data brokers, no analytics on this site. Because of that, the “Do Not Sell or Share” option that some sites need is not applicable here; our cookie manager nevertheless treats a Global Privacy Control signal as a refusal of all non-essential cookies.
What happens when I use the contact form?
Your name, e-mail, message, the extra fields you fill in, the time, the address-bar parameters of the page and a shortened IP address are written to a file on our server that the web cannot read, and a copy goes to team@devcrateapps.com. We reply from that mailbox. We keep the exchange for two years so we can look up what was promised, then delete it.
Which cookies do you set?
One: dc_consent, which remembers your cookie choices for six months. If you turn on the Google map in the contact section, Google sets its own cookies (NID, CONSENT, SOCS). Everything is listed in the Cookie Policy, and you can change your mind under “Cookie settings” in the footer.
Who else sees my information?
- Our hosting and e-mail providers, under contracts that forbid them to use the data for themselves.
- Payment processors when you buy a license; they handle card data, we receive the confirmation and the last four digits.
- Courts and authorities when we are legally required to comply.
Nobody else. We do not transfer data to affiliates and we have none.
What can I ask you to do?
Tell you what we hold, correct it, delete it, give you a copy, or stop using it for a purpose you dislike. California residents have these rights by statute (know, delete, correct, opt out of sale/sharing, limit use of sensitive data, non-discrimination); residents of other states with privacy laws have the equivalent set; everyone else gets the same treatment from us as a matter of policy. E-mail team@devcrateapps.com with the subject “Privacy request”. We confirm within 10 business days and answer within 45 days. We verify you by writing back to the address we have on file, and we accept requests from an authorized agent with your signed permission.
Do the apps collect anything?
Our Windows apps (Crate Terminal, Gitwise, ReqLab and our other Windows applications) work offline. The only network calls are an update check (app name and version) and, for paid editions, a license validation (key, version, Windows build). Nothing is sent from your documents. Crash reports are opt-in per incident.
Children
Not for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data and delete it on notice.
How do I know if this notice changes?
The date at the top changes and, for anything material, a banner appears on the site for 30 days.
